Terri McCormick was a Wisconsin State Representative representing the 56th district in the northeastern part of the state from 2000 until 2007.[1] She unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination in Wisconsin's 8th congressional District in 2006, losing to John Gard. McCormick again failed to secure the Republican nomination in 2010, garnering 18% of the vote and losing to both Roger Roth (32%) and the primary winner, Reid Ribble (48%).

McCormick began college at the two-year University of Wisconsin–Fond du Lac (UW–Fond du Lac) from 1975 to 1978.[2] After completing her associate's degree from the school, she attended the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh where she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in political science.[2] She obtained a master’s degree in administrative leadership. McCormick was the commencement speaker for UW–Fond du Lac's 2006 graduation ceremony.[2]
She founded Education Services, Inc. in 1992, Educational Consultants, Ltd. in 1996, and Solutions Institute in 1998.[3] Education Services founded the Wisconsin Charter School Association.[3] Terri is the president of McCormick Dawson Consulting and Publishing Group based in Appleton.[3] and is the major contributor to an Electronic News site/blog The McCormick Standard [4] McCormick's consulting group has been active in reducing health care costs for local governments and expanding public defender representation for indigent defendants in the state.[5]
McCormick was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2000. She self-imposed term limits, serving only three terms. While serving, she authored acts on small business regulation reform in 2005, competitive prescription drug purchasing pool in 2002, and expanded charter schools from her original bill in 1992, charter schools in the state of Wisconsin.[3]
As a state assemblywoman, she chaired the Committee on Economic Development and was Vice-Chair of the Judiciary Committee. Her legislation won numerous awards among them the Guardian of Small Business Award [6] the Scales of Justice Award,[7] and the Eisenberg Award [8]
